J. Travis Cates, OD

Dr. J Travis Cates is an experienced optometrist who specializes in ocular disease diagnosing and treatment. He is also involved in pre and post operative and routine eye care and works closely with referring family physicians in the Richmond area to manage their patient’s eye disease.

Dr. Cates graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor degree in Chemistry and Biology with honors and completed his Doctor of Optometry degree at IU School of Optometry. He completed externships at the Indianapolis Eye Care Center, Ireland Hospitals in Ft. Knox, KY, and residency in retinal disease at Eye Surgeons of Indiana.

Travis enjoys being with his family –wife Angie, and twins Chase and Marissa. They enjoy sports, being outside and being involved at First United Methodist Church. He looks forward to getting to know you as he meets your eye care needs.
