Dry Eye Care That’s Personalized to You

Dry, irritated, watery eyes can affect your comfort and your everyday life. At Cates Family Eye Care, we take the time to understand what's causing your dry eye and develop a treatment plan based on your individual needs.

What Is Dry Eye?

Dry eye occurs when your eyes don’t produce enough tears or when your tears aren’t working properly to keep the surface of your eyes comfortable and healthy.

Symptoms may include:

  • Dryness or irritation
  • Redness
  • Watery eyes
  • A gritty or “something in my eye” feeling
  • Eye discomfort
  • Fluctuating Vision
  • Blurred Vision

If you’re experiencing these symptoms regularly, an evaluation can help determine what’s contributing to your discomfort and what treatment options may be appropriate.

Finding the Right Treatment for Your Eyes

Dry eye isn’t the same for everyone, which is why treatment shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all.

At Cates Family Eye Care, we offer a variety of treatment options and will recommend the approach that best fits your eyes and your individual needs.

For some patients, treatment may include over-the-counter or prescription eye drops. Others may benefit from punctal plugs, which can help keep tears on the surface of the eye longer.

For patients who may benefit from a more advanced approach, we also offer our newest IPL and RF technology for dry eye treatment.

Advanced Dry Eye Treatment

Forma-I & Lumecca-I

Our newest dry eye technology includes Forma-I and Lumecca-I, two non-invasive, energy-based treatments that can be customized to each patient.

These treatments are designed to address factors that can contribute to dry eye and support healthier gland function and tear production.

Key Benefits

Forma-I

Forma-I is a gentle, non-surgical treatment that uses radio-frequency (RF) energy to promote collagen and elastin production around the eyes.
During treatment, patients may feel a warming sensation, similar to a soothing massage. The heat is designed to improve blood flow, clear clogged glands, and promote collagen production.
Forma-I may help relieve dry, irritated, or watery eyes by helping the glands function better. The gentle heat can also smooth and brighten the skin around the eyes.

Lumecca-I

Lumecca-I is a light-based treatment (IPL) used around the eyes to target inflammation and surface issues.
Lumecca-I delivers a quick flash of light designed to improve the function of the oil glands near the eyes.
Lumecca-I can help relieve dry and irritated eyes by calming inflammation and supporting healthy gland function. The treatment can also improve the appearance of the skin around the eyes by reducing redness and visible vessels.

What Can I Expect?

Treatment in the Office

Treatments are performed right here in the office. There’s no surgery, no needles, and no downtime.

Most people find the treatments very comfortable. Your provider will explain your personalized treatment plan and what to expect before getting started.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Your provider will recommend the number of treatments based on your individual condition and goals.

The brochure indicates that 3–5 sessions are generally needed, with maintenance treatments potentially recommended at 6 or 12 months.

Treatment frequency will be personalized to each patient.

What About Recovery?

One of the benefits of these treatments is that there is generally no recovery period or downtime.

The patient materials note that most patients do not experience significant side effects and that any skin reaction typically resolves within a few hours.

Your provider will give you specific post-treatment instructions based on your treatment.
